4 Reasons to See Your Dentist Before Summer Vacation

After another year of working hard and saving up PTO, you’re finally ready to go on a much-deserved vacation with your family. Though you’ve prepared by putting in your request for PTO months in advance, making hotel reservations, and collecting all the items you’ll need while traveling, have you considered having your dentist take a look at your kids’ smiles before you leave? Read on to learn why it’s a good idea to visit your pediatric dentist before you and your little ones set off on summer vacation.

Reason #1: Vacation-Ready Smile

Though the places you visit and the memories you make are worth a thousand words, so is a picture! This is why it’s important to have a vacation-ready smile. When you and the kids return from your trip and want to show off the photos you took to loved ones, don’t you want to be sporting a gorgeous grin? By taking your children to the dentist before you head out of town, they’ll be able to feel confident in how they look in every photo you capture.

Reason #2: Convenient Appointment Slots

Though making an appointment with your pediatric dentist every six months is crucial to helping your little one maintain a beautiful beam, many people wait until an issue arises to do so. This may be due to living a busy lifestyle that makes it hard to find the time. Fortunately, making appointments before summer vacation is a great time way to get it knocked out. Since many people are preparing to set off on an adventure, you’re more likely to find a convenient appointment slot that fits your family’s needs.

Reason #3: More Recovery Time

If you’ve been putting off a restorative or cosmetic dental treatment for your little one due to the time commitment, the weeks before summer vacation are the perfect time to do so. Since your child won’t have to go to school five days a week, this will give them adequate time to rest and recover without having to miss any homework or tests.

Reason #4: Prevent Dental Emergencies

As previously mentioned, many people avoid visiting their dentist until an oral health issue arises. Though it may seem like a good way to save time, this may end up costing your little one in the future. The longer you wait to take them to see their dentist, the worse the issue will get. Additionally, preventive biannual dental treatments are key to keeping these issues from developing in the first place. Your dentist will take their time examining your child’s mouth to ensure that there aren’t any oral health issues. If there are, they will administer prompt treatment. Your little one’s teeth will also be thoroughly cleaned, and they can get a fluoride treatment or dental sealants if needed.

Make sure to teach your little one about the importance of their smile from a young age. By doing this, they can avoid a range of dental health issues and enjoy this summer vacation and every one after it to the fullest!
